Industrial designer and lighting engineer Ravi Varma created MESA after being disappointed with the harsh light and clumsy shape of traditional lanterns. After working for years in high end lighting, he noticed that the quality of light was lacking in portable lights.

Ravi started the project to make a portable light for his backyard table in Brooklyn.  The goal was to create the glare-free warm glow of a cozy bar or restaurant, but in a package that was portable.  After 2 years and dozens of prototypes to refine the design, MESA was born.

An avid camper and maker, Ravi created the perfect light for camping, backyard BBQ’s, rooftop hangouts, or the home workshop.
